Job Overview
The Director – Specialty Group Development will be responsible to support the growth of new and existing clients for the Group Department. You will be responsible to seek revenue generating opportunities from academic sectors and nonprofit organizations and nurture these relationships to develop and maintain long term relationships. You will need to have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, experience in maintaining and developing client relationships, and a strong working knowledge in the travel industry.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Identify and connect with potential clients within academic and nonprofit sectors to promote the Company’s educational travel services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their travel and educational needs.
- Develop and propose tailored educational trip packages that align with client objectives and budget constraints.
- Coordinate group air travel arrangements and work with airlines to secure optimal rates and schedules for the client as per their need.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless trip planning and implementation.
- Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for growth within the educational travel sector.
- Attend industry conferences and networking events to represent the Company and extend the Company’s market penetration and brand awareness
- Monitor and analyze sales performance, adjusting strategies to meet or exceed targets.
- Establish Marketing plans with the Marketing team which includes email blasts, social media campaigns, webinars to promote the Company’s services to clients.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of strategic sales expertise or business development is a must, preferably in the travel industry
- Familiar with educational travel trends or nonprofit operations in the travel industry is an added bonus
- Excellent oral and communication skills
- Working knowledge of CRM and/or equivalent Customer Relationship Management tools
- Strong decision making, communication, negotiation, leadership, and organizational skills
- Strong understanding of Air Consolidator and wholesaler market
- Proven ability to achieve sales objectives
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)
- Demonstrates self-initiative and excellent customer service skills
- Experienced in working with Global Distribution Systems including but not limited to Sabre, Amadeus and Apollo is preferred
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and comfortable working with new technologies
